Going Home FAQs

Can I get help installing the baby car seat?

Yes. There are two main ways to get help. The first is attending a car seat inspection station. These are specific events, often held at fire stations or other public and central locations. They may be held monthly, or even weekly, and parents make appointments to attend. The second is Child Passenger Safely Technicians. CPS Techs provide one-on-one education in 20- to 30-minute sessions to help parents become comfortable with their own car seat skills. For either option, parents are asked to try installing the seat before attending and to bring the child, if possible.

What items do I need to have at home and ready for baby?

The list is pretty short and simple. Baby will need something to eat (breastmilk or formula), somewhere to sleep (crib or basinet), and diapers. Many new moms swear by a swaddle blanket or breastfeeding pillow … or some other “necessity.” But baby’s needs are pretty simple, especially in the first days home. Parents will have plenty of time to learn the little quirks that will make their home run more smoothly.
